John Wright backs Guptill for sidelining IPL
December 7th, 2011
New Zealand coach John Wright’s entirely backing batsman Martin Guptill’s decision to make down the cash from the Indian Premier League.
Guptill’s turned down a contract with a side in the lucrative Twenty20 tournament in 2012, deciding instead to return to Derbyshire to play across three forms of the game.
Wright says it’s really a wise move by Guptill.
He says if you want to put together a quality worldwide side you need robust players, so they encourage the decision.
John Wright says Guptill is showing exactly the right work ethic.
