Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab suspended for IPL 4
Posted on October 10th, 2010Due to problem with the clarity on the ownership issue of Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab both team has been finally suspended for the year 2011. The another team for the same issue was given extra time to send the details within a week.
Rajasthan Royals is owned by Shilpa Shetty and his husband, while Kings XI Punjab is owned by Preety Zinta. Since both team failed to file their case before the IPL Council on the given due date, both have suspended for the year 2011 while the newly born team Kochi IPL has been given last chance to clear the ownership issue and come back. If the Kochi fails to file the answer by next week, it will also be suspended, told by current IPL Commissnor.
The ownership issue of all the franchises came on the table after suspension on Lalit Modi, former commissioner of IPL Body. On the other hand, Excise Department of India in Chandigarh has already asked Mohali to pay the remaining service tax and file the return copy of income tax, which is still due by them.
