Modi not to attend BCCI disciplinary panel meet

Lalit Modi is looking to boycott the BCCI’s disciplinary panel meeting to be held today. Instead of himself, he will be represented by his lawyer Mehmood Abdi.

Lalit Modi is facing several charges including scam scandal in IPL rights,  share holding in franchises and misleading the IPL committee. Earlier, Lalit Modi has also filed petition in the Bombay High Court to keep out Chirayu Amin from the panel meet stating he has personal bias against him. But court in an order rejected the petition by refusing to interfere the IPL case.

Mehmood Abdi, lawyer of Lalit Modi told reporters that “his client is ready to co-operate and help in this matter to make it rest”.

IPL Tickets will attracts tax

In a move to build up a fund for infrastructure, West Bengal State Government passed the resolution imposing 20 percent taxation on Sports Event Tickets which includes International Cricket Matches, Indian Premier League as well as other sports like tennis and hockey. Earlier, Maharashtra State Government levied Entertainment tax on IPL defining the IPL as Entertainment.

At Eden Gardens, Kolkata ticket price ranges from Rs. 500 to Rs. 30,000 and tax imposition will cost user from around Rs. 100 to Rs. 6,000. Finance Minister of WB Govt. told reporters that this would not be much for spectators. Those who can afford Rs. 30,000 can afford Rs. 6,000 too. Moreover events like IPL are commercial ventures and tax levied is appropriate. Work on the bill started soon after the IPL completed in the month of May, 2010.

Commenting to this, Saurav Ganguly told “one can imagine the amount of revenue state government will get as VIP Gallery cost Rs. 32,000 each.

IPL 2011 Fixtures likely to be declared in December

Many of us are awaiting for the fixtures of upcoming fourth edition of IPL, but it seems we would not be able to see before December 2010. IPL Season 4 is schedule to start in April just after ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Most of format matches would be decided in the IPL Working Committee meeting likely to be held in Nov-December this year. The no. of matches for the season 4 would be increased from 60 to 94 due to addition two new teams IPL Pune and IPL Kochi.

So, if you fans waiting for IPL Schedule of 2011, wait little more till December.

Sahara Pune Warrirors and Kochi IPL to be new IPL Teams

IPL Franchise team list has changed from eight to ten following the addition of two new teams Pune and Kochi. Both teams were winner of the IPL BID Tender for increasing the teams by two new teams. Sahara Pune Warriors choose to name its franchise as Sahara Pune Warriors while Kochi Owners yet to announce their team name.

With the increase in team, we will see increase in the matches too. As pointed out by Lalit Modi in twitter that the format of the tournament of IPL will remain same in the IPL 2011 which give hints that only possibility of such thing is increasing the matches.

With the increase in matches profits of the IPL Franchise is estimated to grow by 20 percent. Vijay Mallaya told reporters after meeting with IPL committee that “IPL is pure business”.

Champions League T20 Schedule 2010 Announced

CLT20 Working commitee announced the upcoming Airtel Champions League Twenty20. The League would be organized in South Africa. Four venues has been finalized for the proposed event. It would be Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Centurion.

This would be third edition of Champions League T20 although the first season was canceled in the wake of terrorist attack on 26/11 in Mumbai. (more…)
