IPL 2010

The IPL 2010 was the 3rd season of the Indian Premier League which was held in India and witnessed an estimated TV audience of over 200 million viewers from the across the country. The IPL 3 was the 1st cricket tournament to be broadcasted live via YouTube. The last 4 matches of IPL 3 were screened across Indian movie theatres in 3D. The season started from March 12 and closed with its last match in April 25, 2010. There were 60 matches in total – the final being played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians where the former emerged as the Champion in Navi Mumbai under the leadership of M.S. Dhoni. Pragyan Ojha from Deccan Chargers received the “Purple Cap” as the highest wicket taker while Sachin Tendulkar got awarded for both Man-of-the-series and for making the maximum runs in the tournament, winning the “Orange Cap”. Chennai Super Kings got noticed for their “Fair Play” and Saurabh Tiwary got acknowledged as the “Under-23” success of IPL 3.

Some new venues were introduced in the 3rd season of IPL and these were Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Navi Mumbai,Cuttack andNagpur. On the other handHyderabad didn’t host any of the games in 2010 given the Telengana unrest at that time. There were 3 transfers in the IPL 3 – Owais Shah and Manoj Tiwary transferred from Delhi Daredevils to Kolkata Knight Riders while Moises Henriques transferred from Kolkata Knight Riders to Delhi Daredevils. The IPL3 got 66 players covered in its final auction schedule which had players from 10 foreign nations. However, it’s to inform that there were bomb attacks in IPL 3 in one of its final matches yet the game and the players were fortunately unaffected.
