Men in blazing yellow, Chennai Super Kings have been no doubt the most consistent performing team of the Indian Premier League. In the last 5 seasons of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings have made it to the finals of the tournament for record four times; of which 2010 and 2011 saw them winning the title. In 2008 and 2012, they were crowned as runners-up. The sixth instalment of the tournament is due to start from April 3, 2013 and Chennai Super Kings are again looking good to give the rest of the teams a run for their money. For IPL 6, the franchises are allowed to splurge a money bag worth 12.5 million US Dollars. 33 players can be part of the playing squad for a team, of which 11 can be overseas players.
For IPL 6, Chennai Super Kings have released some players including Joginder Sharma, George Bailey, Suraj Randiv, Scott Styris, Doug Bollinger and Abhinav Mukund. Chennai Super Kings have been left with around 3.1 million USD. The rest of the amount from their money bag has been spent to retain 15 players for the team squad for the sixth season of the tournament. Of these 15 players, there are 6 overseas cricketers. The names of the overseas players who have been retained are South African powerhouse all rounder Albie Morkel along with his teammate Faf Du Plesis, Sri Lankan duo of spinner Suraj Randiv and fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara, Mr consistent from Australia, Michael Hussey and Caribbean all rounder Dwayne Bravo.
This leaves with 9 Indian players in the team squad for IPL 6. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, S Badrinath, Shadab Jakati, Murali Vijay, Wriddhiman Saha and Anirudha Srikkanth. No points for guessing, MS Dhoni will be handling the reigns of the team once again.
